Please note:   Saddles may be ordered with single girth  (standard), double rigging, or adjustable rigging.    Steeles normally have a balance strap, which is included.    All Steele sidesaddles are available in an offside (ride on the right, rather than the left) model at an additional cost of $500.    Extra time may be needed if we don't have your tree size in stock.

You can add or leave off options on your Steele western.   This one with basic border tooling, purse and extra silver is priced at $2295.   The basic western (below) with minimal silver and border tooling, no purse is priced at $1700.   Shipping cost is extra.

The Steele Deluxe Western above has the special Steele movable horns, full tooling, purse and silver package.    You can choose your seat colors.      $2900.00 plus shipping

This standard tree light oil Steele is much like the Deluxe Western, but it has fixed horns.

Modern Western Sidesaddles are much in demand for showing. They are often ornate saddles, and they are generally larger overall than antique western sidesaddles. You can pay thousands of dollars for a western sidesaddle on a tree that we consider less than the best. We urge you to consider our Steeles, built on the strongest and most comfortable sidesaddle trees to be found. Our leatherwork is done by master saddler Pete Harry, a well-known independent saddler.

Be aware that the modern rider usually requires a longer tree than her grandmother did. People and horses have both gotten taller and stronger than 100 or even 50 years ago. Steeles are built for the modern rider and horse.

 The Lilly (above) is a "crossover" sidesaddle that has both English and western characteristics.    A subtle border tooling of dogwood flowers, western rigging, silver conchos, and purse add interest to this Lilly, shown with a plain leather offside flap.    This saddle may be ordered with either English or western rigging, and colored seats are optional.  $ 1995 plus shipping.

English Sidesaddles

Need an English saddle and a western saddle?     We can do it!   We pioneered the Steele Convertible in the 90s.    Skirts snap off for changeover, and both an English and western stirrup are provided.     The basic rigging is English, with a western converter billet added (or we can do the reverse if you prefer)
